Able to Comment Again

Hopefully, I have it figured out. I got the information, not from Google---and shame on them---but from doing a search and reading blogs of those who also have had problems commenting this week and/or have temporarily lost their Followers.

If you are signed in every blog you go to should show your e-mail address at the upper right, but this week it has shown Create a Blog and Sign In. When I went to comment, instead of showing my name, it said to select a profile. When doing that, a page came up asking me to Sign In. I quit there but I guess some got caught in the loop of this.

Bloggers suggestions were to Sign In and uncheck the Keep me Signed in box (not certain of the exact wording). I heard some had trouble signing in in the first place, but since I was already signed in, this second signing in should not sign me out when I left the site. Confused yet? It did work because when I went to comment on a blog my name did show up.

It's crazy when trying to comment on my own blog my name came up as Anonymous, but, fingers crossed, hoped I have solved the problem.

Hmm, I hope that they get this all fixed soon as my followers seem to have disappeared. :] Good to know that you're commenting is working again. :]

I could NEVER comment, sign in, or even create a blog when I was using Firefox. It wasn't until I switched to Safari (and now Google Chrome) that I was able to function at all. Other than that, this is the first time I've had a snafu with blogspot.

I understand that internet related companies have issues that need to be fixed - issues happen. However, I did do a bunch of reading in the Help section during all of this, and what surprises me is the total lack of communication on Google's part about what's going on & what they're doing. Very unprofessional, especially when issues are going on for as long as this one has been :(.

I've started looking at WordPress, just because I want to know the options, should these problems persist.

And just to be clear, it's not so much the problems, since blogging is mostly for fun & information for me, not business-related, but it's that lack of communication/response.

Just my two bits.....

Whoops, I may have spoken too soon as I don't see my e-mail address at the top of the page and for the comment I need to Select profile instead of my name showing.

Jilly, at the bottom of Dashboard page is Known Issues and Blogger Status. They were pretty good about keeping us updated with the snafu earlier this month, but only one post by them (on the 24th) regarding this current problem.

Think I've been here about two years and this is the first problems I've encountered. I'm not a big fan of Wordpress, so I will stay here.

They do need to do a better job of informing people as to what the status is. Yes, we are not paying for it, but it does generate income for them. Shame on them.

gloria, trying to post on my own blog

What worked: is to have Keep me signed in unchecked (hopefully)

Rebecca, I hope things get straightened out. See my response to Jilly Be. I was told that my Followers had disappeared for a bit. Hope yours will be back soon.

Thanks for figuring all of this out! It's been frustrating to put in all the work of posting and not being able to have comments.

I'm unable to comment using my profile now...I wonder if anonymous works...

Well, unchecking the little box apparently works, because here I am! lol

Joansie and Tina, this is just a temporary fix until Google gets it sorted out. I was reading more and it has something to do with corrupted Blogger cookies, so they were asking people to delete these as well as clearing the cache.

I'll check back later and not do anything further until it is resolved. Right now the temporary fix for us is to sign in each time and uncheck the box which allows us to stay signed in.

It's good to know that this is the first time you've encountered an issue in two years. I can live with that :)

Sure hope you get your identity back (again) asap though!

i glad to see your comments are working.

Sewcool21, it's a temporary workaround until Google fixes it, and they are not being good in communicating about it. You're new here and I hope that you aren't having these problems and not everyone is.

I've been using labels in my sewn garments for decades, but some don't.  Here are some pics of ones I have. The quality went down so...
