To de-stash properly I would have made a sweater which took all six of my skeins (this one took four), but I needed a sweater in this color and I wanted a fairly easy style for my first top-down knitted raglan.

There are ways to chart a sweater so that they are fitted for the individual body, but no way are they as involved as trying to fit wovens, as we well know!
August 6, 2011 10:55 AMglormhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08864222002627736492noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7390369850508009613.post-290528999052002532011-09-07T23:45:37.938-07:002011-09-07T23:45:37.938-07:00glorm said...

They do send a newsletter which has good info in it. Lionbrand (Vanna's yarn--LOL) has tons of free patterns for all kinds of things.

The beauty of raglan sweaters is that there is less fitting involved--just as in sewing--than there is for set-in sleeves. Of course, that also makes purists not like them.
August 6, 2011 10:47 AMglormhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08864222002627736492noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7390369850508009613.post-4818258480260212122011-09-07T23:40:40.471-07:002011-09-07T23:40:40.471-07:00dfr2010 said...

It does look nice...I guess knitting patterns sometimes need fitting just like sewing patterns. In your pic, it looks like a nicer retail sweater. I haven't had much success with making sweaters for myself, they never fit right. Yours looks perfect & I love the color! Working sweaters from the top down is one of my favorite ways of knitting.

Did you use the pattern from LB to make yours?
August 6, 2011 9:23 AMglormhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08864222002627736492noreply@blogger.com
